· The LGV Provisional Licence ·
To be able to drive a LGV vehicle over 7.5 tonnes you must:

A: Be 21* and hold a Category B car licence
B: Meet certain medical standards

*If you are applying for a C1 provisional licence then the minimum age is 18

1. You should obtain the DVLA forms D2  this is both your Provisional licence application form and a combined Photo licence application if you have not already got one from us or from any main post office.  You should also get the D4 medical form from us or any main post office. 
2. The medical form can be completed by any doctor licensed to practise in the EU, it does not necessarily need to be your own.  Most doctors charge around £50-100 for the medical.  However we do have a list of doctors who charge considerably less.
3. Complete the D2 form  and together with the completed D4 medical form send to the DVLA, enclosing your current driving licence together with the correct fee.

As from the 1st July 1999 paper licences are no longer issued by DVLA.
